TASK 1

NETWORK TRACKING

       During my internship period in SunEdison , I was given several task to ensure my accountability and responsible in completing the task given.The 1^st task that was given to me is Network tracing around Sunedison Ipoh Plant.I was placed under Networking department so that I can be guided by IT system engineer and I were helped by Mr.Thawa frm Local helpdesk who are incharge with vendors on fixing the network port and cables.

         Eventhough I am a programming based student ,It didn’t hestitate me to complete this task and leads me to learn more on Network. Althoughi suffered at first in learning the network command and the relationship between network port and switch but I managed to overcome it with help of Google and Mr Thawa .

The first step I did was ,record the network port label and look for the connected pc or tool and its status in switch.

1^st

Noted the network port label
exp : P4-61

2^nd

Look out for the connected tool/pc

Sample: P4-61 is connected to FPOLA05

3^rd

Look for the LAN cable which was connected to a port with a network port label in switch to determine the status that is connected / disconnected.
(blinging port shows tht network port is connected)

4^th

Update the port in excel sheet on the network port with information of location,switch &  IP address,port,status,vlan,connect to & etc

Exp:

 Besides that ,I were asked to look for empty switch ports along in the switch and update a excelsheet for it as it will be helpful to trace for available port to add new network ports in building whenever its needed.

1^st

Check out for empty port in switch at every department and note down the switch port.

2^nd

Update the switch port label in excelsheet with locationand switch ip.
